Before your very first pump, here’s what to do:
Fully charge your pump motors using the USB-C cables
Wash and sterilise all the parts that touch milk (anything made from plastic and silicone)
Use the flange sizing card to find your best fit (this is extremely important.
Pop on a supportive nursing bra - snug but comfy
A quick mum tip:
Pumping upright (rather than slouching or lying down) really helps with milk flow. Even when pumping in the car or on the couch, try to sit tall to avoid any milk spillage.
Getting your flange size right is a game changer. If pumping feels pinchy or uncomfortable, it’s usually a sizing thing, not a “your body” thing.
How to Actually Use the Bubka Glow:
Once everything’s clean, dry and assembled, here’s the easy bit.
Assemble the pump (duckbill valve and diaphragm installed into the milk collector then install the breast shield)
Close the silicone stopper on the pour spout
Place the pump inside your bra, making sure your nipple is centred. Do this before adding the motor so you can see what you’re doing.
Attach the charged motor until it clicks
Long-press the power button to turn it on
Choosing a mode
The Glow lets you toggle between different modes with a short press of the power button:
- Mixed stimulation
- Expression
- Massage
- Automatic
If you’re new to pumping, start with Massage mode for the first 5 minutes of your pump. This will signal to your body that you’re ready to pump. Then switch over to either Mixed Stimulation or Expression mode for the duration of your pump.
Every body is different so it’s important to experiment with the modes and suction strengths to determine what works best for you.
Real talk:
More suction doesn’t mean more milk. Start low, get comfy, and only increase if it feels good. Comfortable pumping almost always leads to better output.
The pump runs for a 20-minute cycle and remembers your last settings - so once you find what works for you, it’s ready to go next time.
Not getting much milk?
Double-check flange fit and alignment. It’s so important the the pump is centred on your nipple. A sure sign of this is if you can feel a letdown in the first few minutes of pumping and, after pumping there is so damage to your nipple.
Sit upright
Start low on suction and build up
Make sure valves and diaphragms are clean and secure
Suction feels weak?
Silicone parts may need replacing
Check for milk residue making parts slippery
Reassemble carefully and give everything a good press together.
Leaks?
Make sure the stopper is closed
Ensure everything clicks into place and is sealed tightly. Especially the base where the collection cup meets the breastshield.
Try not to lean forward while pumping
