Ollie Tots: One Mum’s Breastfeeding Journey in a Mug - Bubka

Ollie Tots: One Mum’s Breastfeeding Journey in a Mug

Meet Natasha, the Mum Behind Ollie Tots and Her Nourishing Lactation Hot Chocolate.

This World Breastfeeding Month, we're celebrating inspiring mum-founded brands. One of our favourites is Ollie Tots, known for their delicious and effective lactation hot chocolate that supports breastfeeding mums across Australia.

As a breastfeeding mum and the founder of a business, I’ve felt both the mental load of maintaining supply and the joy that comes when the right support arrives at the right time. That moment came for me with Ollie Tots’ lactation hot chocolate - made by Chicago‑trained chefs using real Belgian couverture and brewer’s yeast, it became a daily ritual I counted on for a gentle boost.

Paired with my Bubka Move Wearable Breast Pump, I could pump hands‑free while doing email replies, out and about, hanging washing, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. Its hands‑free design offers freedom and performance that match a hospital‑grade pump, all while letting me stay present with my family.

I wanted to learn more about the woman behind it - so I had a chat with Tash from Ollie Tots

How Ollie Tots Was Born from a Breastfeeding Struggle

It started with my own breastfeeding journey. I was exhausted, touched out, and desperate for something that felt like a treat and supported my milk supply. I had a background as a chef, so I started experimenting in my kitchen with nourishing ingredients. What began as a side project to support other mums quietly grew into a business, one built on connection, care, and community. Over time, it’s grown into something more: a space filled with returning customers (some who’ve become friends), and beautiful connections with like‑minded business owners along the way.

A Day in the Life: Mum, Business Owner, Chocolate Maker

There’s no such thing as “typical” around here - It’s organised chaos! Most days, it’s a juggle of packing orders, replying to customers, content planning, and still trying to be present for my little ones. I have three dedicated workdays while the kids are in care or school, and I guard those hours fiercely - but life still happens. It’s messy and full but I’ve learned to work with the season I’m in, not against it.

Balancing the Mental Load of Motherhood and Work

The constant mental load. Switching between business decisions and snack requests is no joke. What’s helped is simplifying everything - my products, my marketing, even my meals. And being okay with slowing down when I need to. My mantra has become: Simple scales. Complex fails. Oh, and caffeine. Lots of it.

Lessons from Motherhood That Shaped the Business

Motherhood has taught me to release perfection. Babies and kids don’t follow plans - neither does business. You can prepare all you want, but flexibility and resilience will get you through. And business has taught me to back myself, something I now carry into parenting, especially when tuning out the noise and trusting my gut.

From Homemade Mixes to a Thriving Mum Community

In the beginning, I was making everything by hand in my kitchen and writing customer names on brown‑paper bags. Now, we’ve got professionally blended mixes, beautifully designed packaging, and a community of thousands of mums who feel seen and supported. I’ve also refined our focus - leaning into our hero product (hot choccy!) and making space for slow, intentional growth.

Tash’s Advice for Mumpreneurs in the Early Years

Start small. Work in sprints, not marathons. You don’t have to do it all - just the next right thing. Build systems that support your life now, not some imaginary future version where you magically have more time. And most importantly - rest is productive.

The Future of Ollie Tots: More Support, More Connection

To keep building a brand that genuinely supports mums - not just with products, but with care, connection, and real‑talk. Whether it’s through nourishing hot chocolate or words that remind her she’s not alone, I want every mum who comes across Ollie Tots to feel held. Long term? Maybe expand our retail stockists, limited‑edition releases, and a strong enough foundation that I can step back a little and soak up these precious years with my kids.

Final Words from Leish

In breastfeeding, joy and challenge live side by side. Getting to share spaces like this - where tools and treats meet genuine care - means so much

To every mum reading: you're doing an amazing job. Whether you're sipping Ollie Tots’ hot chocolate, running a hands‑free pump while folding laundry, or chasing toddlers, every step you take is meaningful. Here's to the realness of motherhood - and to the communities and products that honour it.

Thank you, Tash - for baking with love, community and authenticity.

I’m honoured to share your story x
